An Innovative Approach for Reviewing Case Studies Conducted at a Taiwan University - Information Management Perspectives

This research proposes an innovative approach for reviewing 52 case studies conducted at a Taiwan university. The roles played by the cases are first clarified, followed by a discussion of the formation of the cases by the study methods. Then, by applying the perspectives from the information management (IM) field, three study method types: algorithm in information systems, IM practice and service, and evaluation of IM systems and technology, are found in the 15 specifically selected IM-related case studies. The selected case studies also delineate the processes of conducting IM-related research activities in two directions: analyses of factors and model/system effectiveness and efficiency; validity of model/system construction. The results determine the quality of the selected case studies. A determination of the quality of the selected case studies is made at the end. Finally, this research concludes with expectations for including other perspectives to review cases or to conduct case-based studies.
